Stomping Ailanthus

What happened to winter? This drizzly, muddy, 40-degree weather isn't anybody's favorite, but it did create nice soggy conditions for a family expedition to pull invasive ailanthus (tree of heaven) saplings. It's particularly satisfying to stomp the sprouts from the larger trees we girdled last winter. Controlling this invasive species will give a diversity of native plants a chance to thrive.
