Springtime Treasures

A few exciting finds from the springtime woods: trillium, ramps, and an enormous ant nest! Trilliums are especially slow-growing plants, and the presence of their flowers is a sign of a healthy, undisturbed forest. This species, the Large White Trillium, takes at least five years to grow from a seed to a mature flower-producing plant!
